Your kit will include a pre-paid, self-addressed shipping label, to be sent to a DNA testing
facility that is accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB). This
accreditation establishes the highest standards for lab scientists, the laboratory itself,
and sample handling.
The AABB Accreditation Program determines and then monitors the quality and
operational systems in place within the testing laboratory facility. The basis for
assessment includes compliance with the “Standards, Code of Federal Regulations”
requirements and other federal guidance policy directives.
AABB’s independent assessment of a facility’s operations helps the facility to prepare
for other inspections and serves as a valuable and useful tool to improve both
compliance and operations of the facility. Accreditation is granted for many lab functions,
including processing, testing, distribution and administration of blood and blood
components, hematopoietic progenitor cell activities, cord blood activities, perioperative
activities, parentage-testing activities, and other laboratory functions.
